Inventor Jerome Case founded the business of CASE within Racine, when he began the construction of threshing machines. Later the business gained recognition globally as the initial builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. Case had established themselves in the construction equipment business by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building machinery including road graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machinery company through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading manufacturer of medium-sized to light-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the company New Holland in 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for advertising several of the world's top brands of construction and agricultural machines.
