Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Over 200 deaths per year in North America are caused by lift trucks, or forklifts. Correct maintenance and inspection of forklift tires can help to reduce the risk of mishaps.

Pre-Work Inspection
The tires on the forklift should be inspected at the beginning of each shift, checked for indications of damage and wear. The air pressure in the tires must be checked to make sure that the pressure is not very low. Having a tire pressure that is low can make the equipment susceptible to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Kinds of Tires
The tire type of the forklift would be based upon the type of floor surface which the forklift will operate on. Solid rubber tires are great for indoor application. For smoother surfaces, tires are usually smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks being utilized outdoors. Pneumatic tires are able to grip well on surfaces that are rough as they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other factors
Based on OSHA guidelines, all lift trucks require some periodic and some continual daily checks that is performed every shift. The tires should be inspected once more for any indication of damage, such as wear or cuts.

Forklift Safety
Forklift safety is essential for any employee or employer using a lift truck as lift truck accidents can be serious leading to personal injuries and even death. Even minor accidents can cost you and your company money if the forklift or the goods are damaged during a mishap. Be sure you truly know a lot concerning forklift safety problems.
