Types of Forklifts

Forklifts are utilized inside warehouse and construction environments to carry and move loads that are heavy. They are normally found in material handling and other manufacturing operations. There are various kinds of forklifts utilized for different sorts of applications.

The main difference between forklifts is the way they are powered. Some are electric powered and some use internal combustion motors. For carrying loads which are heavy while maintaining minimum operating expenses, the best choice are usually electric forklifts. Electric forklifts are most often found in indoor work sites. Internal combustion forklifts are recommended for outdoor applications.

A manual drive, fork truck and motorized drive are the three types of forklifts. Fork trucks are motorized and have cabs and backup alarms. Motorized drive forklifts usually have a protected seat for the driver. Manual drive forklifts are manually powered.

Some forklifts are counterbalanced to avoid tipping over. Other safety features consist of turntables or handrails. Specialty forklifts are available for certain applications. For instance, narrow aisle forklifts are designed to work within extremely tight spaces. Rough-terrain forklifts work well on uneven and rocky surfaces.
